Who we are

In 2017, a group of high school guidance and college admission professionals saw a gap in understanding the invaluable talent and service provided by admissions. As trusted advisors, primary sources of guidance, and champions of institutions, these critical roles lacked shared best practices, national recognition, and meaningful certification.

Today, AACAP connects admissions professionals, provides professional development and best practices in a rapidly changing landscape, and recognizes excellence through national certification. Welcome to our proud community!

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at AACAP@career.org if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Each member must complete 10 hours of approved Continuing Education Units (CEUs) annually to maintain their CAP credential.

To maintain the CAP credential, members must complete approved Continuing Education Units (CEUs). CEUs may be earned through participation in a variety of professional development opportunities, including:

  • AACAP Webinar Series – Live and recorded webinars hosted by AACAP
  • AACAP Partner Courses – Professional learning opportunities offered in collaboration with approved partners
  • CHEP Certification Courses – Courses provided through CHEP that align with AACAP professional standards
  • Additional Professional Development Opportunities (by approval) – Other relevant conferences, trainings, or workshops may be eligible for CEUs with prior or post-event approval

AACAP encourages members to engage in diverse learning experiences that support professional growth and best practices in the college admissions profession.

AACAP offers a variety of events throughout the year, including networking events, educational workshops, webinars, and conferences. Our events are designed to provide our members with opportunities to learn from industry experts and connect with other professionals in their field.

The CEU submission process depends on how the CEUs were earned:

  • AACAP-hosted events and webinars: CEUs are automatically recorded and added to your member account upon participation. No additional action is required.
  • Partner-hosted events: Members must submit documentation, such as a certificate of completion or proof of participation, for CEU credit consideration.

All submissions should clearly indicate the event name, date, provider, and number of contact hours completed.

AACAP welcomes presentation proposals that support professional learning and the advancement of ethical and effective admissions practices.

To submit a session proposal:

  • Email your proposal to AACAP@career.org
  • Include a session title, description, intended audience, learning outcomes, and presenter information

All proposals are reviewed by the AACAP Board of Directors.
